8 Reasons to Bring Your Kids to Las Vegas

When you think about a kid-friendly vacation, Las Vegas probably isn’t the first city that comes to mind. Las Vegas has a reputation for being an adult playground; a place of bright lights, an abundance of adult beverages and a late-night party atmosphere. But more and more families are discovering the other side of Vegas, the family-friendly side where kids can play, explore and experience a brand new place made just for them. Before you do another boring and kid-safe vacation, check out what Las Vegas has to offer for the entire family

Kids Love Treats

Foodies love Vegas because of the abundance of incredible food and the fact that you can get almost any meal you want 24 hours a day. But while adults are excited about secret bars like Frankie’s Tiki Room, kids will appreciate the many different spots throughout the city where they can satisfy their sweet tooth.

M&M World

M&M World is a self-described “Chocolate Heaven;” a colorful oasis of the classic candy treat. From clothing and stuffed animals to toys and personalized candy treats for purchase, this four-story chocolate lover’s dream is free to enter, and a great place for a colorful family photo. Pick up an M&M themed mug, t-shirt, keychain or use the wall dispensers to fill up a bag of your favorite treats.

Ethel M Chocolate Factory

While we’re discussing chocolate, Ethel M Chocolate Factory, located in the California Hotel and Casino, offers walking tours every thirty minutes where kids can get a front-row seat in the tantalizing process of chocolate making. The Premium Chocolate Tasting Package is great for the whole family, as it combines a short educational presentation about the origins of chocolate, and then a tasting of a variety of different chocolates.

Lappert's Ice Cream

Temps in Las Vegas in the summer can exceed 100 degrees, which only means one thing: ice cream. While there is no shortage of ice cream places in Vegas, Lappert’s is cool because it has unique flavors like Hawaiian Sea Salt Caramel and Cookie Monster. The vibe of the shop is laid back and comfortable, and there are fun gifts to buy and gourmet coffees to try. Also located in the California Hotel and Casino, you could stop in for ice cream after your chocolate tour. Another must-try ice cream shop is CREAM, where cookies are a major part of every dish!

Kids Love To Play

To burn off that never-ending energy all kids seem to have, make a beeline for some of these great parks and playgrounds! From splash pads in the summer to classic swings and slides in the cooler months, Las Vegas offers a lot of great public spaces for families to run, play and picnic.

The Children's Park at the Las Vegas Town Square

The Children’s Park at Town Square is located across the street from Town Square Park. Kids can run and explore the charming kid-size structures, climb up into a treehouse, get lost in a hedge maze, use the stage for creative play,  and explore the slides, climbing structures and a splash pad. This safe play place is a great place to let your kids explore, and is open during the week from 10 am to 8:30, and an hour later on the weekends.

Dave and Buster's

Located in Downtown Summerlin, Las Vegas, the arcade-restaurant franchise is a place for both parents and their kids. A place to eat, drink, and most of all play arcade games. This is the Disneyland of arcades. Warning, once your kids have entered the building good luck pulling them out from their favorite arcade games. No arcade on the Las Vegas Strip can compete with Dave and Buster's.

Adventuredome Theme Park

For something a little more high energy, the Adventuredome Theme Park, located in the Circus Circus Las Vegas Hotel and Casino, is five acres of thrilling entertainment for kids of all ages. Adventuredome features rock climbing, bungee jumping, laser mazes, an arcade, mini golf, two roller coasters, bumper cars and so much more! You could easily spend a whole day here, and the cool AC is a nice way to cool off when Vegas temps start to rise. There are family rides and junior rides too so that the whole family can get in on the fun.

Kids Love Shows

If you went to Vegas and didn’t see a show, did you even go to Vegas? While some Las Vegas shows may be inappropriate for young eyes, there are shows filled with music, magic, and creativity that kids will love.

Piff The Magic Dragon

What do you get when you put a dragon and a magic chihuahua on a stage? One of the coolest shows in Las Vegas. Piff, The Magic Dragon, is a hilarious and engaging stage performance that has won numerous awards and has performed at iconic venues such as Radio City Music Hall and the Sydney Opera House. A funny man in a dragon suit and a pup that can do magic tricks will easily be the highlight of your kids’ trip to Las Vegas.

Terry Fator

Terry’s ventriloquism techniques will leave you, well, speechless. Terry is joined nightly by iconic friends such as Michael Jackson and Elton John, and a hilarious crew of unique puppets like Vikki the Cougar and the adorable, always-texting Emma Taylor. It’s easy to forget that Terry is actually the voice of these unique characters, as his ability and creativity are unparalleled in the entertainment industry. With a kid-friendly style, the whole family can laugh until they cry at this headline show.

Cirque Du Soleil

You want your kids to remember Las Vegas? Any of the Cirque Du Soleil shows will be an unforgettable experience for your kids. The best part will be their reactions of the acrobats doing ridiculous human feats they perform in their stunts. You and your kids will be on the edge of your seats for the whole ride. Don't forget to bring your kids to one of these amazing shows.

After a day of ice cream, playgrounds, and exciting Las Vegas shows, your family will probably be exhausted and ready for sleep. Fully furnished kitchens, spacious bedrooms, private pools and all of the amenities you need to feel at home after a long day exploring the area are a great alternative for an overpriced hotels.
